Job Summary
**The Opportunity**
This is a rare opportunity to join Davis Langdon, a globally recognized leader with a long history and enviable track record, based in our highly acclaimed Auckland office.
Reporting to the Estimating Lead, you will be responsible for:
* Serving as a leader and technical expert in estimating, establishing and effectively leveraging cross-discipline relationships within the business group, and providing guidance and support to junior members of the Davis Langdon team.
* Carrying out estimating activities that considers and supports the overall project requirements.
* Apply practical field experience and constructability expertise to the development of conceptual estimates when minimal design drawings and information are available.
* Review and contribute to the development of design and contract documentation. Help identify risk areas and participate in mitigation planning.
* Estimate cost and cumulative impact of proposed design or construction changes.
* Develop estimates in the accuracy and level of detail required for the intended purpose of the estimate. Analyzing design documentation including drawings, specifications, contracts, and other information to prepare elemental and trade-based estimates; creating elemental and trade-based estimates, benchmarking and reporting to project management.
* Assemble elemental estimates into a trade based estimate for tender review. Determine that the project requirements stated in the basis-of-estimate instructions are covered.
* Support procurement by contributing to cost analysis for contractor pricing to determine whether pricing is fair-and-reasonable.
* Taking an active part in post tender interviews, presentations and negotiations with contractors and ensure successful handover to delivery teams following award.
* Working with the pre-construction team during design and tender phases to ensure the requirements of the Client are addressed.
* Understanding business / industry trends and the implications for estimating.
* Maintain and trend historical cost data from actual hours, costs, and pricing. Calculate and compile data for use in historical databases, and maintain current and accurate information on industry prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact, published materials, etc.
* Supporting the on-going development of Davis Langdon’s position with key clients.
Minimum Requirements
**About You**
You will already be operating at a senior estimator level and will be a natural team player who is solution and relationship focused, and highly driven to achieve successful outcomes for our clients. You will have ga
ered a solid reputation in the market through your work within a contractor or consultancy and will be looking to apply this within a high performing team at a leading consultancy.
In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:
* At least 12 years’ experience in estimating, of which a significant amount will have been in the New Zealand market.
* A proven track record as an estimator or cost consultant with strong cost estimating skill set.
* A broad estimating background within the commercial property construction sector.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Full working knowledge of estimating software systems (e.g. Cato, CostX, etc).
* Current knowledge of the Auckland market.
Preferred Qualifications
* Hold a qualification in a relevant discipline from an inte
ationally recognized institution.
* Worked for a recognized consultancy or contracting company.
